When Marissa Ladera called us to help her out with a Lavender Boulder City Wedding styled shoot we jumped out of our seat with excitement. After hibernating all through the pandemic we could not wait to get out and partner with some vendors to make some gorgeous inspiring images. Marissa of Marissa Ladera Photography and Amy of Forge Social House came up with this amazing concept and I got to do the fun part of bringing in the fashions and helping with tasks at the day of the shoot. I chose a stunning long sleeve gown from Lovest Bridal Boutique and a sleeveless trumpet skirt gown from Brilliant Bridal.

Planning a Wedding Styled Shoot

Planning a photoshoot during a pandemic does not come without its own share of difficulties however. Of the five models who were scheduled for this shoot only one showed up. Lovely Lidia was perfect, She looked like princess Ariel stepped right off the pages of the book but where was her prince? Our groom model did not show. We joked multiple times throughout the day about walking next door to the Boulder City Police station to ask if a handsome police officer would come be a stand in groom but a couple hours went by before Amy, Marketing Manager at Forge Social House decided to take matters into her own hands.

The Stand In Groom

A police cruiser had pulled up in front of the station and was parked on the curb with an officer sitting inside. She walked purposefully towards the cruiser wearing her bridesmaid dress and our bride in tow. I walked up in time to hear them explain the situation to the officer in a fit of giggles. The gentlemanly officer walked into the venue to scope out the situation. I asked his jacket size hoping that maybe somehow he would fit in the tux that had been sent for our groom. Unfortunately his strong broad shoulders would not fit the size we had prepared. But we all agreed that he could ‘model’ in his uniform. It would be better than no groom!

The officer excused himself from the room saying he needed to park his cruiser and returned only minutes later.  He was not alone when he returned, however, he was with his son. Cory was a handsome young man and seemed agreeable enough to the situation upon seeing his pretty bride. Can you believe it?! And he fit right into the tuxedo like it had been made for him. We couldn’t have asked for a more perfect stand in.

Despite some unexpected complications the shoot was fantastic. I hope you enjoy the inspiration that Marissa, Amy and their vendor team put into this Lavender Boulder City Wedding Styled Shoot
